The counter top adventure...

As things come to a close on the house, we are finding that these last steps are the hardest.  The counter tops came in yesterday and I was desperate to get them installed before my dad left the country.  Yes, he actually is headed to Canada today.

My amazing sister-in-law Ellen and I went on a great adventure to pick them up.  She had never driven a truck pulling a trailer, but she did yesterday.   Long story short-we made it there and back successfully.  As a woman who just finished her own home construction project she can sympathize with my stress and urgency.  She really was a great help!!!

My dad and Christian got the counter tops in place AND the sink.  Which was also its very own adventure.

Joyful swarm...

There won't be many more posts of a construction site.  Soon there will be posts of our house.  There isn't much left to do.

Here on the farm we have honey bees.  Yesterday when Christian and I went to check out the progress the bees were swarming the front porch.  I hope they are just checking out the new digs and not moving in.

Finishing up the trim on the stairs

Interior doors in place

Thresholds too

Gas hookup for the range

No more "break your ankle" holes in the floor

Starting to look a lot like a bedroom to me

More updates...

Long overdue a post or two...

Daddy has slaved long and hard over our cabinets, and they are nearly finished.  Just a final coat of paint, install the counter tops and we are good to go.  My daddy and I aren't the hugs and kisses kind of people, but I dare say my dad loves me more than hugs and kisses-he loves me a whole kitchen of custom, hand-crafted cabinets.  In my book that is a heck of a lot!  I'm very excited to cook tens of thousands of meals, pour cup after cup of chocolate milk, and start the morning with my coffee in this kitchen.  The gift he has given us will be a part of our lives everyday for the rest of our days.  Thanks, daddy!

The long awaited floors...more pics to come

Gus break dancing on the new kitchen floor.  Also, it is all the same floor.  The lighting was different in our bedroom hence the different look.
